Stop Roof & Attic Moisture
Water in the attic isn't always a simple leak. Ice dams, blocked vents, failed flashing, and Chinook melt all damage roofs from above and below. Cochrane Insulation diagnoses and fixes the full picture.
What we fix
Roof rain starts in more than one place
From failed vents to frost melt and aging shingles — we trace moisture to its source before recommending work.
Roof & Flashing Repairs
Actual roof leaks at valleys, chimneys, and penetrations — repaired or replaced with quality materials and proper detailing.
Vent & Drainage Fixes
Blocked or missing vents, ice dam patterns, and poor soffit airflow corrected so water doesn't pool under decking.
Attic Moisture Control
Insulation gaps, unsealed fans, and frost cycles addressed so "mystery water" stops after every thaw.
Roof rain vs. attic rain
Two kinds of water — one team
Homeowners often can't tell if water is coming through shingles or melting from attic frost. We figure out which — or both.
True roof leaks happen at damaged shingles, flashings, or ice dams forcing water uphill under tabs.
Attic rain happens when frost built up all winter melts in a Chinook and drips from the inside of the deck — shingles intact.
Some homes have both. Treating only one leaves the stains and mould risk behind.
Complete fix
Seal the roof. Dry the attic.
Repairs, vent upgrades, and insulation work coordinated so moisture stops at every entry point.
Roof surface
Shingle, flashing, and vent boot repairs — or full replacement when the roof has reached end of life.
Airflow
Ventilation balanced so the attic stays cold and dry, reducing ice dams and interior frost.
Insulation & fans
Heat and moisture sources sealed — insulation topped up, bath fans routed outside properly.

Roof moisture FAQ
Roof and attic moisture questions
Leaks, ice dams, Chinook melt — how to tell what's going on and what we do about it.
What is roof rain vs. attic rain?
Roof rain usually means water entering through damaged shingles, flashing, or ice dams. Attic rain is frost melting inside the attic during a Chinook — shingles may look fine.
Can you fix both on one visit?
Yes. Cochrane Insulation inspects the roof surface and attic conditions together so we fix the actual source — not just the symptom.
Do I need a full roof replacement?
Not always. Many moisture issues are solved with ventilation, insulation, and bath-fan corrections. We recommend replacement only when the roof has reached end of life or has deck damage.
What areas do you serve?
Cochrane, Calgary, Airdrie, and surrounding Alberta communities.
